Following the report on Tuesday that Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban made the decision to stop playing the national anthem before games, the NBA made a decision of their own.
“With NBA teams now in the process of welcoming fans back into the arena, all teams will play the national anthem in keeping with longstanding league policy,” NBA Chief Communications Officer Mike Bass said.

Following his statement, Cuban made an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump, where he stated that the Mavericks “are in full agreement” with the league and will play the anthem going forward. “There were quite a few people that voiced their concerns about playing the anthem. We wanted to see what the response was. We never made the decision to never play it,” Cuban said on The Jump.
“Our goal is to have our voices heard.”
Not only were their voices heard, but Cuban and the Mavericks have started a conversation going forward to help support and represent all.
