The Dallas Cowboys offseason has officially come to an end. Every year after the offseason, we do a rundown of who were the top performers on the offense and defense.
Great thing about this is each year there are new winners. Players have opportunities each year to make an impact.
Today we will be discussing players who’ve consistently performed in the offseason.
Top Offensive Performers: Michael Gallup
Yes, Michael Gallup, the third-round rookie receiver out of Colorado State is my MVP on the offense.
Gallop proved he can consistently run precise routes and be a deep threat when he caught a 30-yard TD pass from Dak Prescott in week one of preseason.
Each practice during training camp, Gallup came to work each day consistently making spectacular catches. If this guy can carry the momentum into real game situations on Sunday’s, then the Cowboys offense will be able to keep the balance attack much like in 2016.
The most important factor that helps young rookie in their first year is health.
Gallup participated in every part of offseason which shows the coaching staff he can be relied on as availability is unquestionably your best ability.
There you have it your 2018 offseason MVP on offense, Michael Gallup.
Top Defensive Performers: Jaylon Smith
Jaylon Smith has clearly been a different player this season.
David Moore of SportsDay News reported that Smith said he ditched his knee brace and doesn’t bother to look for it.
Smith was attacking the football at every direction showing no signs of injury. He has undeniably been the offseason defensive MVP.
The Cowboys organization believe Smith is ready to have a fantastic season, which he will be playing without the brace.
Jaylon Smith looks to be locked in to get on the field this to show everyone that his hard work and patience has paid it’s dividends.
When Sean Lee wasn’t taking part in team activities, it was Smith who took over the captain duties and had the defense in position.
Smith was the one who believe in himself when everyone doubted him to ever play in an NFL game.
Smith believed he doesn’t need the brace to play in a game, everyone said that wasn’t possible.
To summarize everything, Smith did the impossible and deserves credit for not giving up when he could have easily quit.
By far he was the offseason defensive MVP, but he can be a breakout player for the Cowboys if healthy.
Look out NFL, Jaylon Smith will be swiping away all season long as he looks to dominate.
