DALLAS, Texas–SMU bounced back following last week’s 20-point loss to the TCU Horned Frogs last weekend. The Mustangs used 580 yards of total offense en route to a 44-21 thrashing of the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
Following an Arkansas State rushing touchdown late in the first quarter, the Mustangs responded with an 11-play, 74-yard drive capped by a two-yard rushing touchdown from Courtland Sutton to take a three-point lead. It was Sutton’s first career rush, who also finished with just 32 yards receiving.
Running back Xavier Jones rushed for 146 yards on 19 carries while sophomore Ke’Mon Freeman rushed for 92 yards including two touchdowns as the Mustangs improved to 3-1 on the season.
