Sean Lee Make’s His Impact Felt Vs Giants
For the first 50+ minutes of Sunday’s match-up versus the New York Giants, it seemed as if the Dallas Cowboys forgot all about their 38-14 dismantlement of the Washington Redskins the week before and had reverted back to mediocrity.
Tied with the 2-10 New York giants through 3 quarters of relatively uninspired play, things were beginning to look bleak for America’s team. Its true that quarterback Dak Prescott went bananas (especially in the 4th quarter) , compiling 332 yards through the air and 3 touchdowns. However, you could argue that linebacker Sean Lee’s 18 tackle and 1 interception performance was of even greater importance.
Why It Mattered
Lee’s play kept Dallas in the game while the offense struggled to find its way. When Dallas got the ball back with 9:29 left in the 4th, the offense had only put 10 points on the board, along with 4 punts and 2 missed field goals. His big game against the Giants is nothing new, he has historically played great defense when lining up against the g-men.
Lee’s ability to dissect plays, always puts him in a position to make a play. Always. Whether it was a tackle for loss on 2nd down late in the 4th quarter, or the interception after Dallas stormed to a 14 point lead to ice the game, Lee was everywhere. His play is paramount to the success of the Cowboys (offensively as well as defensively) , and at 7-6, the Cowboys are going to need every ounce of heart and soul he has moving forward.
