It was reported earlier this morning that Dallas Mavericks center, Salah Mejri, will undergo minor surgery on his knee tomorrow. There was thought that he would participate for his national team, Tunisia, but now it seems he has his eyes permanently on being available at the start of training camp.
“I haven’t joined the national team earlier because I was undecided about the surgery, but it’s been decided now,” Mejri told FIBA.com.
While very raw, Mejri did have some eye opening outings as a big for the Mavericks, and even started in some games towards the end. His ability to protect the rim and provide size was valuable for the undersized Mavericks, especially heading into the end of last season and into the post-season.
He is under contract for two more years, and despite what the Mavericks add via free agency, he will likely serve as a backup big on the bench.
