FRISCO, Texas–The Dallas’ elite football community gathered together on Thursday night to honor two former Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State alumni taken from us much too soon. The late Ron Springs and Terry Glenn were honored at the Brotherhood 4 Good at Verona Villa. The fundraising dinner benefited their respective charities foundations, the Ron Springs Gift for Life Foundation and Brighter Generation Foundation.
“Ron was my best friend and he was an incredible family man and friend,” said Tony Dorsett. “I support his foundation, because his life affected so many positively, especially mine, and now through his family and this foundation his legacy is honored.
“It is very important to me because we are able to help kids who truly need it,” Dorsett explained about his role in the foundation. “Not many people know that Ron and I visited Camp Reynal together and we were both struck with the energy and spirit of hope that we saw in the kids and the staff there. Ron’s foundation keeps that hope going in a world that can be so stressful for kids and family.
The event featured a dinner, cocktails, and an amazing sports-themed silent auction. The night included a panel of Dallas Cowboys players who got their start as Buckeyes. Sponsors had the opportunity to dine with “A Star,” as each sponsored table at the affair will feature a football player host. The dinner was followed by a private sponsor reception, which included current Dallas Cowboys players, Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys legends, and other NFL stars.
Guests included former Dallas Cowboys stars Tony Dorsett, Everson Walls, Bruce Thornton, Tony Hill, Doug Donley, Doug Cosbie, Timmy Newsome, and Michael Wiley. Ohio State Alum and NFL All-Pro Running Back Eddie George also attended the star-studded event.
