As of Sunday morning, the Rangers are 12-20 and seven games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League. The team simply cannot hit at any sort of consistent clip that would allow them to string wins together. The starting pitching staff has been a major disappointment, with one exception. It’s not exactly like the team has one or two players hurt right now that would totally flip the switch. The outlook for the near future is bleak and it just might be time for the Rangers to make some major sales as the trade deadline approaches on Monday afternoon.
Rumors on Sunday morning seem to indicate that ace Lance Lynn could be on the move.

Coming off a start on Saturday night, Lynn finds himself in the top five of various pitching statistics among all MLB starters. Under contract for just $9.3 million in 2021, Lynn has to be one of the most coveted arms available on the market during this odd and unprecedented trade deadline.
If the Rangers were to trade Lynn, their rotation would probably fall to one of the worst in baseball unless Mike Minor and Kyle Gibson can improve their play. With Corey Kluber likely done for the year and having a team option for 2021, who knows what the Texas could look like when spring training starts in 2021.
Based on the reported bevy of teams interested in Lynn, the Rangers need to make sure they are getting an impressive haul for the 33-year-old starter. Considering the lack of explosive talent up and down the rest of their roster, this might be their one chance to boost their farm system via trade in the next few months.
