Lance Lynn isn’t the only big name being thrown around in trade talks for the Rangers before the trade deadline on Monday. Current face of the franchise Joey Gallo is reportedly being pursued by several contending teams and Texas is certainly listening on those calls.
In addition to Lance Lynn, the Texas Rangers have been discussing outfielder Joey Gallo in potential trades, sources tell ESPN. The price on both is high, and it's why one GM said "the Rangers hold the keys to the deadline." If they do sell, it's impact guys in pennant races.

Among players in whom the Rays are showing interest, according to sources: Tigers left-hander Daniel Norris…and, ahem, Rangers right fielder Joey Gallo. Padres also have shown interest in Gallo, along with seemingly every other available player with a heartbeat!

Gallo would fit for Rays financially, at least for this season. Remaining pro-rated portion of 2020 salary at deadline will be ~$670K. Two years of arbitration left after that. https://t.co/Gd3ZwaFwYY

Gallo, only 26-years-old and still multiple seasons away from free agency, has not been immune to the Rangers’ major offensive struggles in 2020. The 2019 All-Star started out the season hot back at the end of July, but has been ice cold throughout the month of August. He’s hitting just .188 for the year and his power has not been as consistent as it was the last several seasons.
A trade of Gallo would also be a metaphorical waving of the white flag for Jon Daniels and the Texas front office on competing anytime soon. It’s probably for the best fans aren’t allowed at the new Globe Life Field at the moment, because they sure as hell wouldn’t be happy to see Gallo go.
With less than 24 hours to go before the deadline, Rangers fans need to be prepared to hold onto their butts.
