Nowitzki To Be Honored With Naismith Legacy Award

Add another achievement to the outstanding resume of Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki will be honored with the Naismith Legacy Award, which is given to players, coaches, and other individuals/organizations in basketball for their impact on and off the court.

Jim Naismith, the grandson of basketball inventor Dr. James Naismith, will be at tonight’s game to present the award to The Big German.

“We want to recognize folks that have had significant contributions to the game of basketball,” said Damon Fogal, CEO of the Naismith Legacy Foundation. “It’s the first time we’ve given this award to an international player. Dirk has had a huge impact in the world of basketball across the globe.”

Nowitzki will receive the award at halftime of tonight’s game vs. Sacramento.
