The NBA All-Star captains and starters were announced for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game tonight on TNT.
For the Mavericks, they’ll be represented very well for the second consecutive year as Luka Doncic was named an All-Star starter once again.
Making his 2nd #NBAAllStar appearance… Luka Doncic of the @dallasmavs.
Drafted as the 3rd pick in 2018 out of Slovenia, @luka7doncic is averaging 29.1 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 9.4 APG for the Mavericks this season. pic.twitter.com/wWD5YC7SRG

Doncic, averaging 29.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game, was voted in as one of the starting guards along with the Warriors’ Steph Curry. Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard, and Lakers’ LeBron James, also the West captain, round out the remaining West starters.
Though for Luka, the road to being named a starter wasn’t easy. Doncic and Portland’s Damian Lillard were tied following the media and players vote, giving the fans vote the tiebreaker, which gave the nod to Doncic.
