The Legends are set to take on the Miami Heat Affiliate Skyforce on Thursday night.
Texas will be looking for its seventh straight victory, which would strengthen their newly found grip on the West’s top seed.
Obviously the key to the Legends success is their dominant front court. Motley and Warney have manhandled G-League caliber front lines all season and deserve recognition for doing so.
However much of this winning streak can be attributed to the “others” raising their play.
For instance, Brandon Ashley. After a bit of a dud two games ago against the Drive, he bounced back beautifully with back to back 20 point performances while still making his usual defensive impact (3 BPG in the last 4 games.)
Also Donald Sloan has made big time contributions. This is unsurprising considering his extended time at the NBA level, but it took awhile for him to get right because of a leg injury earlier in the year.
When asked what his peaking level of play, Sloan simply replied “Just finally getting healthy.”
After leading scorer Justin Dentmon was lost due to an Achilles injury, this version of Sloan will be needed from here on out.
Sloan, Ashley, and the crew will play host to a Skyforce team coming off a win against Canton. Sioux Falls only has a mediocre 15-15 record, but they still boast as talented a G-League roster as anyone. With guys like Briante Weber, Tony Mitchell, and Legends alum AJ Hammons they will surely give Texas a good test.
You can catch the game live at Dr. Pepper arena in Frisco. If you can’t make it out, follow along on FSSW2 or via streaming options on the team website. Tip off is at 7:00 CST.
