WWE has now confirmed Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his contract with the company following WrestleMania. The following was written on WWE’s website:
Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April.
We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.
Dean Ambrose, born Jonathan David Good, has been with the WWE since 2011 in the promotion’s developmental territories. A year later, he would join the RAW brand as a third of the popular stable, The Shield with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. While with the stable, Ambrose won the United States Championship and held the belt for 351 days, the longest reign in WWE for that title. Following the Sheild’s breakup, he would go on to win multiple championships, including the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He’s the twenty-seventh Triple Crown Champion and the sixteenth Grand Slam Champion. Whether this is kayfabe or not, it will be interesting to see where the Lunatic Fringe ends up after ‘Mania.
