Your 2020 Traveler’s champion is the #6 ranked golfer in the world Dustin Johnson. This is Johnson’s 21st win on tour and gives him at least one win in 13 consecutive seasons. The other guys in that company? Tiger, Jack and Arnie.
Johnson flew up the leaderboard on Saturday after carding a flawless 61 – putting him within striking distance of Branden Todd heading into Sunday.
Sunday, Johnson quickly made up the two-stroke difference, maintaining the lead for the remainder of the day. On 18, he bombed a 351-yard drive dead center to put an exclamation mark on another win for the former world number one.

Here’s what else happened:
Will Gordon secures a spot on tour
The 23-year-old finished tied for 3rd place which was enough to secure a Special Temporary Membership and unlimited sponsor exemptions for the reminder of the season. With Canada’s Mackenzie Tour being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic this is a life-changing accomplishment that will allow him to continue to compete week in and week out.
A Sunday 64 for Will Gordon.
Why does it mean so much?
With a T3 finish @TravelersChamp, the 23-year-old earns enough non-member #FedExCup points to secure Special Temporary Membership and unlimited sponsor exemptions for the rest of the season. pic.twitter.com/5LJbIruY5A

Rough Sunday for Brendon Todd
At one point in this tournament Brendon Todd had hit 31 fairways in a row including 44/45. Unfortunately for Todd, this streak ended in dramatic fashion on Sunday as he quickly gave up a two-stroke lead and dropped outside of the top-ten. His fall from the top included a horrendous triple on the back nine that resembled my Saturday golf round rather than a PGA Tour professional. Still, Todd is a three-time PGA Tour winner who knows what it’s like to battle through the dreaded yips. This won’t be the last time we see Todd in a strong position Sunday.
Golf is hard. Winning is really hard.
Triple bogey for Brendon Todd.

Phil Mickelson proves 50 is the new 30
Phil and his trendy sunglasses put on a show in the first two days of the tournament before fading on the weekend. Still, he finished in a tie for 24th in his second start since the COVID delay. He hit plenty of bombs on his way to shooting -11. Always good to have Phil in the mix.

Jordan Spieth unimpressive again
Spieth’s good moments were overshadowed by the bad. It’s a song we’ve come to learn too well. He won’t be making the trip to Detroit for next week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
PGA Tour tightens COVID-19 testing in wake of additional positive tests
Starting next week in Detroit, the new rules will not allow players on property without securing a positive in-market test. Previously, players were allowed to practice on site while awaiting their test results – they just did not have access to indoor facilities. The Tour was hit with multiple positive tests leading up to the Traveler’s Championship which led to multiple withdrawals.
Next week we head to Michigan for the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
