In a tale that sounds as old as time, it’s important to remind you on this Independence Day why the Cowboys continue to be America’s Team.
The Dallas Cowboys have dominated NFL jersey sales through consecutive years with both active and retired players. Ezekiel Elliot, Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and Tony Romo have each had stable appearances on the annual list.
The most current NFL Top Jersey sales list looks a little different, a little newer, but here’s why:

The current list is only considering jersey sales from the moths of April to mid June, essentially the hottest time for the NFL Draft.
Saquon Barkely topping the list comes as no surprise. The rookie running back, who was considered a top-five draft pick, was picked up second overall by the New York Giants. His versatility and explosiveness had every NFL fan convinced he was the perfect fit for their team. Barkley was a draft favorite this year and his jersey sales prove it.
Carson Wentz and Nick Foles both have a championship under their belt as the reigning Super Bowl champions. Of course, Foles had to take the place of an injured Wentz, but the Eagles starting QB is coming back strong this season with the entire city of Philadelphia behind him.
Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold: two rookies who are expected to become a game-changing addition to the Browns/ Jets. Mayfield was drafted first overall by the Browns after having claimed the Heisman Trophy in Oklahoma last year. Mayfield finished his college career as the most efficient arm in NCAA history. Darnold was one of the safest picks in the draft and he is considered to be impressively athletic for a player his size.
Tom Brady and Marcus Mariota: Am I the only one who doesn’t get how Brady still has amazing jersey sales? Through all these years you would think every Patriots fan has a Brady jersey by now, but that’s the beauty of bandwaggon-ing. As for Mariota, his nationality makes him a fan favorite, especially in his home state of Hawaii. Mariota still pulls popularity from the University of Oregon after helping his alma mater emerge as a power force.

And then theres the Dallas Cowboys. Slots 9, 10 and 11 were claimed by the ‘boys with Jason Witten currently standing eleven overall. The Cowboys are coming off a less than impressive 9-7 season and since then have lost notable players to retirement and releases. Ezekiel Elliot had a whirlwind of a season after serving a six-game suspension. Prescott was blasted and blamed for the Cowboys failing to thrive. But yet, fans are buying their jersey.
Fans are proud to showcase their favorite Cowboys because that’s how America’s Team works. You’ll see these jerseys across the country, across the world because everyone wants to be relevant to one of the best franchises in sports history. It takes a lot of energy and will to be a loyal Cowboys fans, but one thing remains true: the Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team.
Happy Fourth of July, everybody!
