On Monday, Dirk Nowitzki joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett, Jason Kidd, and Elvin Hayes as the only players in NBA history with more than 50,000 minutes played.
“50K mins played though @swish41?!?!? Sheesh bro that’s insane,” Lebron James tweeted. ” Congrats man! That’s what you call punching in your clock daily!”
For the 39-year-old old Nowitzki, it adds yet another milestone in his illustrious 20-year career.
“I’ve just been fortunate to stay really injury-free for most of my career,” Nowitzki said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “I’ve had some bumps in the road here and there, but you see what other players go through, so I was very fortunate. That’s a lot of minutes, obviously, especially early on in my career.”
Reaction:
50,000 minutes can change a man.
