Well, that didn’t take long.
Following the Mavs 98-75 Monday victory over the Washington Wizards in a game highlighted by a 360-degree highlight reel dunk by Dennis Smith Jr., head coach Rick Carlisle proclaimed his rookie guard ready for the NBA All-Star Weekend’s Dunk Contest.
“I don’t know who is doing the invitations to the dunk contest, but if they don’t invite him after tonight’s exhibition, somebody’s probably not doing their job,” Carlisle said.
Well, it appears as though Monday night’s campaigning worked. According to a source for Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, DSJ has accepted an invitation to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.
NBA All-Star Weekend runs from February 16-18 in Los Angeles.
