The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed free agent forward Quincy Acy. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the deal is believed to be for two years for the vet minimum.
A former product of Baylor and from the Dallas suburb of Mesquite, Acy is an intriguing pickup for the Mavericks. He is only 25 years old, and has averaged 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in four seasons of limited playing time – about 15 minutes per game to be exact.
Last year, he was with the Sacramento Kings and averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds. He is a big physical body, who reminds me a lot of DeJuan Blair. He is another inside presence for the Dallas Mavericks, and another young body as well. It’s clear that the Mavericks are doing their best to rebuild their roster into a much younger ensemble.
While Acy mentioned how excited he was to be coming back to Dallas, there may have been another factor at play as well:
