Dallas Cowboys stock report: Week 10

The Dallas Cowboys came away with a very big win Sunday night in Philadelphia 27-20. As Ezekiel Elliott said earlier in the week, this was a must win game for the Cowboys if they wanted to keep their playoff hopes alive. This was the closest the Cowboys offense looked to 2016 that we have seen in at least a year. Now, they must keep it going in Atlanta.

Let’s take a quick look back and look at the stock report.

STOCK UP

DAK PRESCOTT

Dak Prescott completed 26-36 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown Sunday night. Dak got off to a rocky start Sunday night in the first and second quarters, including a throw that should have been a pick six to put the Cowboys down 7-3. The game turned for Prescott on the last drive before halftime when led the Cowboys to a touchdown drive that put them up 13-3 going into half. The Eagles would come back to tie the game in second half but it was Dak who had an answer every time.

AMARI COOPER

Amari Cooper finished the game with six catches for 75 yards on 10 targets, but his impact through the first two games of his Cowboys career goes beyond the numbers. His route running has stood out the most and his presence on the field gives the defense a receiver they have to account for.

Xavier Su’a-Filo

Xavier Su’a-Filo was drafted in 2014 by the Houston Texans in the second round. There were a lot of questions about the offensive line when Coach Jason Garrett said that Connor Williams was going to have a minor knee surgery. The Cowboys responded with their most impressive game of the season offensively. Ezekiel Elliott rushed 19 times for 151 yards and one touchdown. Injuries on the defensive side of the ball for the Eagles can be credited for some of the success but give a lot of credit to Su’a-Filo for filling in. Also, don’t underestimate the impact Marc Colombo has had on this unit.

STOCK DOWN

SEAN LEE

As we know, Sean Lee didn’t play Sunday night due to another hamstring injury. This feels different for Lee, and it is different because the Cowboys have a very capable replacement in defensive player of week and rookie Leighton Vander Esch. Lee’s future as a Cowboy is now in question because the Cowboys can save $7 million this offseason by cutting him.

CONNOR WILLIAMS

Connor Williams was able to do some work in practice on Wednesday. However, his days as starting left guard could be done. The Cowboys have shown on many occasions that they are not afraid to stick with the guy playing well over the starter that got hurt. That will be something to keep an eye on going forward as Williams gets healthier.

SOMETHING TO MONITOR

There isn’t a lot of negatives to say about a guy after 151 yards rushing and a touchdown on 19 carries and 6 catches for 36 yards and another touchdown, but there are discussions about what has happened to Ezekiel Elliott’s explosiveness. There were a couple of plays that stood out from Sunday’s game where I thought out loud “is that a touchdown in 2016?” The first play was the play where he leaped over an Eagles defender and appeared to keep his balance until the “turf monster” got him. Then, the second play was where he ended up running out of bounds after he broke out to the left side of the field with Malcolm Jenkins chasing him.
