The Dallas Cowboys took the field in “shells” for the first time Friday morning.
Mike McCarthy has reportedly limited the media’s ability to take pictures, live tweet and record videos during practices this season.
Practice notes
As McCarthy mentioned, The Cowboys did in fact practice outside on Friday. Joe Looney said that there is a cool down tent out there with water, Gatorade and popsicles.
The recently acquired Everson Griffen is in DFW but will not take the field until at least Monday. Griffen has to pass three consecutive tests within 24 hours. Cowboys will be off on Saturday.
Ceedee Lamb hauled in a one handed catch during individual drills. Lamb was also returning punts along with Cedric Wilson. First year Cowboy Ha ha Clinton Dix said Lamb is, “very explosive. Very fast. He’s just getting comfortable. I can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
La’el Collins did not practice on Friday. He was on the side as it appears he’s working to get in shape.
After considering opting out, Demarcus Lawrence says his wife made the decision for him to play. “She basically told me there’s no way possible that I can miss this season. We’ll have to sacrifice whatever we need to.”
Tyrone Crawford is off of the PUP list and received first team defensive line reps. Aldon Smith, Gerald McCoy and Lawrence were along side Crawford.
There was a lot of mixing and matching in the secondary. Anthony Brown and Chidobe Awuzie started on the outside with Jourdan Lewis in the slot. Trevon Diggs and Daryl Worley also rotated in.
At safety, Ha ha and Xavier woods started with the first team but Darian Thompson and Wilson also received first team reps. Wilson picked off Dak Prescott late in practice for the teams first interception of training camp.
