Ok folks, we’ve had five games with a record of 2-3. During this bye week, let’s look to something that will get our minds off our losses and turn to something good. Who can be considered the MVP the last five games?
Although our defense hasn’t been playing the best, one player had stood out and is leading the NFL in sacks. Defensive end DeMarcus “Tank” Lawrence is leading the pack with 8.5 sacks this season.

This is DeMarcus Lawrence’s 4th season with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2014, the Cowboys traded two draft picks in order to move up 13 spots in order to get him. He was a standout star at Boise State and ended his last season there with 20.5 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks. He has a total of 17.5 career sacks and was named NFL’s defensive player of the week after the win against the Arizona Cardinals where he had three sacks. Despite that, Lawrence commented that
“It’s not good enough…I left a lot out there on the table. I got to get better.”
His hard work and dedication shows with the nickname “Tank”, which he received back when he was running over players in little league as a fullback. In a 2014 interview with Sports Day, he attributes his hard work and success to his upbringing from two devoted parents.
“I was prepared for the journey…You know, my parents taught me how to survive.”
Thankfully for him, this is the last year of his 5.5 million rookie contract and one can bet that the guys upstairs won’t have any problem resigning him to a much deserved extension.
