National TV games
The Cowboys will be featured in five primetime games plus the Thanksgiving day game.
September 9th: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NBC)
September 27th: Philadelphia Eagles (MNF)
October 31st: @ Minnesota Vikings (SNF)
Thankgiving game: Las Vegas Raiders
December 2nd: @ New Orleans Saints (FOX/NFLN/Amazon)
December 26th: Washington Football Team (SNF)
Early season travel
The NFL didn’t do the Cowboys any favor to start the season. They will travel coast to coast for their first two games. Going to Tampa in week one and then Los Angeles to take on the Chargers in Week 2. Of course, there will be 10 days off in between these games.
Advantage early, disadvantage late
The Cowboys will once again play three straight home games early in the season and three straight on the road late in the season. The NFL has done this the past couple of seasons.
Three straight home games (Week 2-5)
Week 3: Eagles
Week 4: Panthers
Week 5: Giants (same week as Daks ankle injury last season)
Three straight road games (Week 13-15)
Week 13: Saints
Week 14: Washington
Week 15: Giants
3 games in 12 days
The Cowboys are used to playing 3 games in 12 days at this point. However, that doesn’t mean it gets any easier year by year. This year has three tough opponents.
Sunday, November 21: @ Kansas City Chiefs
Thursday, November 25: Raiders
Thursday, December 2: @ Saints
Division games late
The Cowboys will finish the 2021 season playing 4 out of 5 games against division opponents. Two of those games will be against Washington. That tells me that the NFL believes the NFC East will come down to those two teams.
