Taimon Turner

I am a proud fan of the Dallas Mavericks and have been one since the late 1990s when I was a kid.

My story on becoming a Mavs fan is one I will remember for the rest of my life.

I was 6 years old and in first grade and I went to a Mavs game with my family at Reunion Arena. At the end of the 3rd quarter, I was invited onto the floor to play musical chairs with other kids who were the biggest Mavs fans of the night. I won a t-shirt, a Mavs basketball, and a ticket to a Rockets-Mavs game. I knew right then and there that I would be a Mavs fan for the rest of my life. It was incredible!

Im 25 years old. I was born in Dallas but lived most of my life on the east coast. I lived 9 years in West Hartford Connecticut and 4 years right outside of New York City when I was in college at Hofstra University where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a Minor in Political Science.

Although I lived most of my life on the east coast, my native Dallas routes never left me. Especially the native routes of the passion that I have for Dallas sports teams.

I have so much passion for Dallas sports teams that I knew from the young age of 12 years old that I wanted to go into sports broadcasting just so I could cover my favorite sports teams.

I love broadcasting because it gives me a platform to have a conversation!

Zack Cunningham

I’m Zack Cunningham, a broadcast journalism major from Abilene Christian University’s class of 2008.

I’ve lived in Texas for 28 of my 31 years on this Earth and I’ve followed the Mavericks since 1998. My first memory of them was the 2001 playoffs and being extremely happy when they beat the Jazz, but sad when they lost to the Spurs in five games in the conference semifinals. However, seeing Dirk drop 42 stands out to me, punctuated by his dunk in garbage time.

I covered high school sports for the Cleburne Times-Review from 2008-12 before moving into the tech industry. Most recently, in 2015 covered the Mavericks for the Fanatic briefly before moving to work with Mike Fisher at DallasBasketball.com.

I am married to my beautiful wife, Jessica, and have been for just over five years now. We live in Carrollton with our dog, Zara, and cat, Drake.

I’m looking forward to covering them again this season with the Fanatic!

Life long Mavs fan, born and raised in Dallas. I’ve been interested in NBA history for as long as I can remember (fun fact, my parents gave my brothers and me an NBA Almanac in 1995 as an Xmas gift). I started the “@ForgottenMaverick” instagram account in 2016 posting pics of some lesser known Mavs, short tenured Mavs, etc. Recently, it’s evolved into the “Forgotten Maverick” podcast where I interview some of the Mavs featured on the account about their NBA career and time in Dallas. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m excited to share it with you! #mffl
