Mavs Trust the Process, Defeat 76ers 113-95

Mavs Fanatic (14 of 21)

After defeating the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers in back-to-back games, the Dallas Mavericks looked to keep the ball rolling against the Philadelphia 76ers.  In past years, this might have been viewed as an easy task, but this Sixers team has “trusted the process,” and is much better this season.  The Sixers came into Wednesday night’s matchup having won 10 of its 15 games in the month of January.  The Mavs did everything they could to make sure there was no let down in this one.

For the majority of the game, it was back and forth between both of these teams.  At the end of the 1st, the Sixers held a 23-20 advantage. By halftime, the Mavs led 50-47. Midway through the 3rd quarter is where things started to unravel for the young Philadelphia squad, as they were outscored 31-22 in the period. The Mavs kept their foot on the gas in the 4th quarter, and went on to win, 113-95, extending their win streak to 3 games.

Players of the Game:

Yogi Ferrell didn’t have big numbers, but he did continue to run the offense like pro that’s been there before.  With every start, and with every win, his confindence will continue to soar.  It’s early, but after what we’ve seen in these last few games, the Mavs might have just found themselves a diamond in the rough. After his 10-day contract is up, Dallas is expected to offer Yogi a 2-year deal.

Anyway, on to the other players of the game.

Seth Curry – 22 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds

Salah Mejri – 16 points, 17 rebounds (career-high)

Harrison Barnes – 15 points, 7 rebounds

Devin Harris – 14 points (2 huge threes in the 3rd that helped Dallas separate)

Up Next

Next, the Mavs will face a tough 3-game stretch against 2 teams that are ahead of them in the Western Conference standings.  They’ll take on the Portland Trailblazers, the Denver Nuggets and then the Blazers one more time.  If Dallas is going to make a serious run at making the playoffs, they need to do everything they can to win these next 3.
