Ezekiel Elliott’s Preliminary Injunction Vacated, Suspension Restored

So much for a quiet bye week for the Dallas Cowboys and all of Cowboys Nation. It was announced today that the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled to vacate Elliott’s preliminary injunction. Is it officially over for Elliott and his defense team? Not quite. They will now have to file an injunction in the Southern District of New York.

This could essentially mean that Elliott may need to start serving his six-game suspension next Sunday, when they take on the San Francisco 49ers. Here is a look at the six games he could miss:

  • at San Francisco (0-5)
  • at Washington (2-2)
  • Kansas City (5-0)
  • at Atlanta (3-1)
  • Philadelphia (4-1)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)

Despite the news, it is still possible that Elliott could get a preliminary injunction granted again, and the case be put on hold yet again. Elliott and his defense team have 10 days between now and their next game to file new motions. The NFL won this round, and now bring this case to New York, but it’s still unclear how this will pan out, which falls right in line with how this case has unfolded since the beginning.

Let’s take a look at some of the top reactions from you Cowboys fans:

I guess the Cowboy’s Ezekiel Elliott will in fact be allowed to kneel during the national anthem… from home. https://t.co/MgpPSKGve2

Fully expect Ezekiel Elliott to do one of two things over his suspension: 1.) Get in trouble again or 2.) Get our of football shape
