Dallas Cowboys Week 14 – Stock Report

Dallas Cowboys Week 14 – Stock Report

The Dallas Cowboys kept their playoff dream alive Sunday afternoon with a 30-10 win over the New York Giants. The Cowboys are now 7-6 and have won two games in a row after dropping the previous three. It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but at this point the Cowboys are in no place to style point wins. They will face the Oakland Raiders Sunday night to try to continue their push to the playoffs.

STOCK UP

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott tallied up a career high 332 passing yards Sunday in New York. It was a performance that I thought would happen more when Ezekiel Elliott was forced to serve his six game suspension. Dak said this week in his presser that it is a different offense without Zeke and that they had to figure some things out to get to this point. Jerry stated in his radio interview on 105.3 the fan that these games without Zeke have made Dak a better quarterback. Dak was able to connect on several different big plays and none were bigger than the 81 yard touchdown to Rod Smith in the 4th quarter to make the score 23-10.

Rod Smith

Hello, Rod Smith! Rod Smith caught all five of his targets for 113 yards and a touchdown. He also added in six carries for 47 yards and a touchdown. No one has taken advantage of Elliott’s suspension more than Rod Smith. Smith has scored touchdowns in three straight games now and will look to make it four Sunday night in Oakland.

Young Guns In The Secondary

Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie and Xavier Woods all played huge roles Sunday with Orlando Scandrick out. The trio combined for 13 tackles, 6 pass breakups, one tackle for loss and one QB hit. These games down the stretch are giving them a chance to gain experience in a playoff chase that will only help going forward in their young careers.

STOCK DOWN

Dan Bailey

There aren’t many times where Dan Bailey is going to make the stock down report. Bailey missed two of three field goal attempts and also missed an extra point in Sundays win. Two of the attempts were from 50+ yards but those are still kicks we are used to Bailey making because he is Dan Bailey.
“It was just a frustrating day,” Dan Bailey said after the game. Jerry did come out and say he was battling some sort of a hamstring injury so that will be something to monitor in the coming weeks.

Dez Bryant

This year has been up and down for Dez Bryant. He has had more drops than he’s used to, the chemistry is still not there with Prescott and he just isn’t getting the opportunities he once got. He did come up with a 50 yard touchdown pass where he was able to break away from the corner and take it to the house. With that being said, he has had far too many drops this season and that continued Sunday where he dropped two more passes. One pass would have been a first down and the other goes for a touchdown. Dak said that Dez was in his ear about that one the rest of the day and Dak just told him not to worry about it. Dez finished the game with 3 catches for 73 yards and the touchdown.
